About Us

Who We Are

Surrounded by a bevy of wildflowers and trees, Arklow Credit Unions building is inviting to all who gaze upon it. A cornerstone of the community since 1962, Arklow Credit Union celebrated our 60th anniversary in June 2022. A huge milestone for any business, especially one that started in humble surroundings, in the living room of one of our first board members.

For those who are unfamiliar with the credit union movement, they are a local, not for profit financial institution. Overseen by a Board of Directors made up of voluntary members, giving up their free time and offering their expertise to help in the running of their local credit union. Worldwide, there are more than 89,000 credit unions in 117 countries serving 260 million people. Credit unions have won the CXi Ireland Customer Experience Award for the last seven consecutive years. Repeatedly being recognized for their dedication and customer service, Arklow Credit Union’s friendly and knowledgeable staff are always on hand for our members.

From the beginning of our journey, Arklow Credit Union have evolved with the times and of our members’ needs. Starting out offering savings and loans, we have expanded our facilities with easy-to-use state of the art online features and foreign exchange. Always putting our members needs first and foremost.

Community has been one of the key philosophies of the movement, especially with Arklow Credit Union. Over the years we have had many fruitful partnerships with local groups and clubs like Arklow Geraldine’s Ballymoney GAA, Arklow RNLI, Arklow Music Festival, Arklow Cancer Support, amongst others. In 2019, a partnership with Arklow United Football Club had the 44-year-old club rename their ground to Arklow Credit Union Park. Giving back to the community, who have consistently supported the credit union for 60 years, has been and will continue to be a main priority of Arklow Credit Union.
