Junior Savers Week 2025
We’re delighted to announce Junior Savers Week 2025, returning this autumn with the theme “Save the Day: A Week of Fun, Facts, and Future Finances!” The initiative continues to promote positive saving habits and financial education among young members aged from 5 – 12 years old in a fun and engaging way.
This year Credit Union Junior Savers Week will take place from 22nd September - 28th September.
Fun in the Classroom
New for 2025 is a strong focus on school and classroom engagement, with the introduction of a dedicated Teacher Pack and structured daily themes and quizzes for local schools.
Each day of the week will explore a different financial literacy topic — from Money Monday to Future Friday — supported by quiz questions and activities tailored to different age groups.
The Teacher Pack includes everything educators need: an overview of the week, daily materials, classroom activity sheets, and a printable leaderboard to encourage participation and fun. Teacher pack is available here https://www.creditunion.ie/news/junior-savers-week-2025/
Start saving for your little one today!
For children, saving money in a credit union is a real benefit and also teaches them the value of credit unions which are run by the community, for the community. We want to help prepare our junior savers for a positive financial future, and Arklow Credit Union will be there for them in the future, for whatever financial assistance they might need.
It's never too early to start saving.
Document below has all you need to open an account for your child with Arklow Credit Union.
Couple of Savings Tips:
- Help your children set savings goals
- Giving pocket money as small change makes it easier for children to save
- Encourage savings: Reward good behaviour, consider matching their savings if the item they are saving for is exceptionally pricey.
- Having a Credit Union account will help children to start saving their own pot of gold
- Encourage children to save regularly, and advise them not to impulse buy
The Credit Union have also partnered with educational company Twinkl, to provide free, educational resources for children in primary school, called ‘Start Money Smart’ specifically focused on finance and money. All the materials are available for parents and teachers to download on https://www.twinkl.ie
